Chai Simple Syrup

Chai Simple Syrup

Did you know you can easily add chai flavour to pretty much any beverage? Simple syrup is a must-have for every bartender - but it's incredibly 'simple' to make at home, too!

You can use any Prana Chai blend to add intense flavour to your syrup - but we love making it with Peppermint Blend to get the party started with our chai-chocolate-mint martinis!

Tip: Mix with sparkling water for an instant chai soda, or add to spirits like whiskey or vodka for an easy cocktail! Or, add to your coffee for a quick dirty chai - drizzle over pancakes - top ice cream - add to frothed milk. The options are endless!

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 tbsp Prana Chai
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 - 1 1/4 cups water

METHOD

  1. Place Prana Chai, sugar and 1 cup of water into a small pot and simmer over a low heat for five to ten minutes, stirring often.
  2. Keep simmering until the syrup is strong enough for your liking. Make sure you cover the pot so that the liquid doesn't dissipate too much and make the syrup too thick. If you find that the syrup is becoming thicker, add up to an extra 1/4 cup of water to keep it thin and easy to mix with any drink.
  3. Strain the syrup through a sieve, and then when cool, transfer to a tall glass bottle. Make sure the syrup is cool before doing this, or else the glass may shatter.
  4. Store in the refrigerator for up to six months! To extend the shelf life, add a shot of vodka to the cooled syrup and mix through.
